The SHAREpower project is being piloted in Parry Sound – Muskoka under the initiative and leadership of community member, Steph Romaniuk, a college professor of environmental studies, a naturalist, and a citizen scientist.
“For my Master’s placement, I’m excited to be engaging with other members of my community to establish a Unified Utility Co-op in Parry Sound – Muskoka. Within spring/summer 2025, with the help of the Odenaansan team and my community, I aim to gather 100-300 ratepayers and begin the implementation of the cooperative model.”
The Parry Sound-Muskoka Unified Utility Co-op provides a working template for how communities anywhere can take control of their future. The combination of participatory development and smart resource management provides a practical solution to building a resilient and sustainable community, especially when neighbours become partners.
Are you a community champion, or know one, that wants to launch SHAREpower in your community, neighbourhood, cottage association, etc.?
